A Prayer for the Little Girls of Pakistan

They run, they play
Not knowing it’s today

They laugh and sing
They form a ringCoronado Angel

Their souls, they shine
Their eyes in kind

These little girls
Their joys awhirl

Today’s the day
They go away

Embrace them, LORD
In one accord

Their bodies hurt
Their bodies died
They wanted life
Please—not this ride

But go, they must
Here comes the dust

Embrace their souls
Their hearts, their roles

Now may they shine
A brand new kind

A different way
Transformed today

Comfort their friends
Whose hearts this rends

Their mother’s hands
Their father’s lands

May grace abound
Throughout their sound

Please God, no more;
Allah, adore.
